Koala Fires made a trip up to Chicago over the weekend to play a show at U.S. Beer Co., in Lincoln Park, and we just wanted to share some of our antics with you.

Chicago is such a huge and wondrous city; the vibe was great, albeit slightly tense, as we pulled into town. Kendall had been fighting with the Garmin GPS all day, and let us know what he thought of it; Mike started a tally of how many times Kendall called it "stupid." I believe the TomTom is his GPS of preference (maybe they can sponsor our tour after the album is done!)
We missed our turn and tried again, finally making it to the hotel. We headed to our friend Audrey's apartment to kill some time before our equipment load-in. We took in a good chunk of a classic of modern horror cinema, "Leprechaun: In Da Hood" and learned a couple of things: The leprechaun says things like this through the entire film - "A friend with weed, is a friend indeed;" and that Warwick Davis really should never be a hip-hop artist.
After fast-forwarding to the ending (because time was running short and we were so engrossed by the character development that we HAD to know how it ended up,) We then headed to Gino's East to take in some Chicago Deep Dish.
While waiting for our pizza (we went with Patty style sausage if you are interested) we played a rousing game of hangman, in which Kendall guessed 4 out of 5 correct answers and Audrey nearly hanged our man with the puzzle "A Royal Flush" Mike and Dan's entries were also admirable.

After dinner we headed to U.S. Beer Co. and loaded in, greeting some friends from Cincy The Emeralds who graciously asked us on the bill. The night was lively with great sets from Cash Flagg, Lovely Crash, and The Emeralds complete with dancing and other sundry forms of expression.
Our set felt great and we made sure to let the audience know how badly they needed to see our new favorite Leprechaun motion picture. We played all the hits, made the girls cry, and even sold some t-shirts.
After our hard day's night, we awoke to a create-your-own omelette buffet thing at our hotel. Dan, took full advantage of this and schooled Mike in the ways of jalapenos and salsa omelettes as we discussed what we would do if we ever had a child who was a hermaphrodite...

On the way home we took the time to discuss the album we have been working so diligently on. We're anxious to get it recorded so we can get it to all of you. We think it's going to be something lovely.
Now you know what it's like to be a rock star. Stay tuned to this station for more Koala Fires antics in the near future!
